Hidden beaches on Phuket

• it’s difficult to find a deserted beach on Phuket
• sandy beaches are only on the west shore
• the tourism sector is more developed on the south of the island
• the best conditions for holidays are during cold season

Banana Beach

• between Naithon and Layan, north-west shore.
• 2 minute’s walk from the road to the beach, easy to overlook; some get by boat from neighbor towns
• few people, a bar and a restaurant

North-west edge of the island

• have to pass police turnpike before the bridge connecting the island with the continent
• completely deserted beaches, clear water, strong current at the very cape
• sometimes Thai families collecting sea fruits
• no tourism, protected area, turtles of the sea

Paradise Beach

• some people call it hidden treasure of the island – that’s not true
• a lot of people, very high prices; pretentious place

Diving on Phuket

• the best season: November to April
• diving schools are everywhere, easy to find a school
• Sea World Dive Team at Patong Beach – they have the deepest pool for beginners
• Similans – ranked in top 10 diving sites of the world
• many companies offer 1-day diving journeys, longer to Similans, Mergui, Burma, Indonesia, Bali
• attractions: coral reef, sharks, rays; generally no danger, shark don’t attack people; pay attention to snakes and jelly fishes
• easy to find a school for PADI, also wreck diver, master, rescue, deep, or video diving
